Question:can u use this in the cold
Answer:It does fine in the cold!
We've been using ours in the recent 2 week cold snap. Our is sitting out on a deck with a piece of 1" foam board insulation under the ground cover. It has no trouble maintaining 104 degrees with the top cover on it. The heater can't keep up when the cover is open though. The temp will drop to 102 in about 30 minutes once the cover is open. And if you turn the bubbles on the temperature drops like a rock. Probably drops 2 degrees every 10 minutes with the bubbles going.
My son and I were out in it the other day when it was 8 degrees and windy out. Only problem we had was our wet hair kept freezing into icicles LOL. Was awesome. Coldest I've been in it was 2 degrees the other night. I have no plans of turning it off at all this winter. I'm afraid to look at my next electric bill though.
Also, be sure to be aware of the fact it automatically turns off in 3 days if you don't push any buttons. If it turns off in extreme cold for long I'd expect the pump to freeze and ruin the whole thing. I use it every night before bed and just play with the buttons a little. That seems to reset the 3 day timer.
Also, you need to be aware that if you have a momentary power outage, the hot tub will not turn back on automatically, so if your microwave clock is flashing you need to go restart the hot tub :)

Question:Filled weight would be too heavy for a deck, right?
Answer:Supposed to hold 242 gallons at 8 pounds per gallon, plus 88 lbs for materials, so pre-people-ing, you're looking at 2000+ pounds.
As others have noted, you're dispersing the weight over a larger square area, than on, say four tires on a vehicle, so that will help.
If you've successfully had 10 burly dudes over for a rowdy Super Bowl party or perhaps a vicious dance-off and your deck held, you should be good?

Question:Would it be dangerous to put this in an apartment? How stable is this for a 250 pound man and his 150 wife? How do you drain it if it is safe?
Answer:it is always better to put a big tub outside in case a line pops apart--which has happened with other tubs. In terms of how stable the tub is if it holds all that water, probably 1500 pounds or so, it can definitely handle 400 pounds of humans or more. We are mainly water, so we just displace water

Question:the demensions say 34.5" in diameter. that cant be right ?|
Answer:The 34.5" refers to the dimensions of the box it is shipped in. It is 71 x 26, as stated. We've had it running for a couple of week now and just love it. The bubbling water is magnificent and relaxing.

Question:What chemicals are needed for the water. Is a chlorine tablet enough or is other treatment required?
Answer:You will need either chlorine or bromine..I prefer bromine. Also ph up and down, shock, tester, water clear, and defoamer.
